Provincial country!

Since
1998 up to recently each Sunday on Latvijas Radio 2 there was two hours long show
called Kantrī mūzikas raidījums (meaning - Country Music program - in Latvian), hosted by prominent
and Musically well educated Uldis Ozoliņš (producer and creator of annual Bauska Country Music Festival and president of Latvian Country Music Association). It's weird
thou, that nobody considered it to be strange, that on the air of radio, that
position itself as the only local Music station (being publicly owned media - by
the way) in the world, that spins just strictly selected local songs by
extremely mainstream local performers (mostly Pop, Schlager and 'rural amateur'
type of Music), for more than a decade, such a narrowly-tailored U.S.-based art form that is one-hundred-percent sung in English language, was so widely and professionally popularized. Country Music is excellent and Mr. Ozoliņš is great, but, come on - what the Huck? ... LR2 - maybe for next decade you should consider to create daily Step Dance or Capoeira show, just in case, we know some splendid dabsters of those things!
